Protectorate

Hey, if you don't already know, we might soon become a protectorate of another very large alliance. A nation with whom I had done a couple tech deals with, asked me if we wished to become a protectorate. I immediately conferred with the current leaders and we were all in general favor of becoming one. Just to tell you, a protectorate is basically where a larger alliance protects a smaller one. Also, the smaller alliance is not required to protect the larger alliance in case of an attack. Alliance control over protectorates differ throughout alliances. Currently, we are learning and negotiating about the different terms and conditions and there have been "passes" between leaders of the alliance. I guess we just have to wait and see!

Voting and Government Type

I'm not sure which type of government we should use. I mean Golden's system is kind of limited after a while, and there are no classes which we rank our members as. I believe the one I presented effectively deals with the problem, because if the leader gets out of hand, one of the philosopher princes can aid them. I also believe a class system of grading members is needed to help promote eagerness and vigor to our alliance. Members will strive to become an adept of our Alliance. We could offer rewards for being a higher rank. If you did not see my previous system, here it is. Don't forget you can vote about it in the forum.
1. President Sanctimonia (leader, decides most foreign affairs, aid, "universal" tech-deals)
2. Philosopher Princes (three, in essence the legislation. They can over-rule the president on a 2/3 basis)
3. Minister of
-Recruitment (handles recruitment technique and officers)
-Commerce (handles trade, as well as aid to other nations)
-Foreign Affairs (handles all problems dealing foreign nations, including war)
-Technology (handles tech deals and helps other members make them)
-Interstate Affairs (Handles problems between alliance states, judicial leader)
4. Adept of the Z.A.W. (advanced member, can hold officer position)
5. Acolyte (basic member, can hold officer position
6. Initiate (new member)
7. Honorary Members (a friend from a different alliance)
I also believe a continuous system of voting is the best way to solve the voting procedure problem. Even though, as Golden said, we would have to monitor it, I believe once we grow to a sufficient size, then that would not be a problem, for we would have a dedicated team of people at our side.

EDIT: Also, a commentary about ranks. I believe that we should not give all the higher (in power) ranked people the higher ranks in our system. It is only appropiate to judge the nation on their ability to govern, (good choices, not war-frenzy or stagnant), senority,and participation within the alliance itself. For a person with higher power could be a person that just is powerful from a deal, and not mature in the inside.

Recruiting

As you may have noticed, our alliance is EXTREMELY small,
If we want to grow and have any chance in taking over similar alliance we need to recruit people.
If each of us donate 20K, which is a reasonable fee, we can offer 160K to a newcomer, and tell them the advantages of our alliance. No quizes to pass, no requirements, no background checks, and no long sign ups. With all of our power changes we have forgotten one of the essencials to a developing alliance: members. Please comment.

Flaw in the voting system

Nand has recently told me that you can vote twice in our election. I accidentally found out that you can vote AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WISH! I may have admitted that I have voted twice, or three times just for my reasurrance of my previous vote. I have lost count of how many votes I really have, either 1 or 2. Anyone else who voted for me on this blog please say something, if not then I one vote. However, just because I came out and reported the truth doesn't mean we should do nothing about this flaw. Let us discuss what should be done.

Voting Procedure

Many questions have come about the type of voting. I have decided to create an indefinate poll on the forum for our top positions. This is my type of system I belive we should do.

We should vote on ther person, and whoever gets the highest will be the position. Lets say our leader doesn't do a good job, we can change our votes to another country. It is all informal, you can change whenever you want. Whoever has the most votes regins. In case of a ties, the Minister of Interstate Affairs chooses the position holder.
